Pass me the sugar, tell me about what you dreamt last night. Try to remember before your memory passes you by. Was it good? Do you think the rest of the day will be alright?
January is for drawn out moments. Yellow. A pause.
Pass me the salt, tell me how you like your eggs. You show me the new leaf that sprouted on the plant on the counter. “I haven’t watered it in a while.” Relentless little thing, I thought. You tell me you’ve been watering it instead.
January is for beginnings. Green. A start.
We set the table. Put down our half empty cups. And I wonder how many more slow things are often overlooked.
Unfolding,
Louise
The first month will always be my free trial month. So hello, here’s a very late happy new year! (Or an early happy Chinese New Year!)
While January is for fresh slates and new things, I wanted to redraw this old line that I always seem to write again and again in my journals. A promise of good days. A wish for a good year.
The past month has been long. Just like how I want it. I used to hate slow days but I appreciate them more now – Please linger a tad longer. Please let me feel things a bit deeper.
happy 2024, louise. ♥️ thank you for sharing your gorgeous illustrations and beautiful words 🥰
